Hello and welcome to the STK Hockey League!

Our mission is to provide a fun and safe learning environment in which to participate in the sport of hockey while emphasizing the spirit and competition that is part of hockey. Our lunch-time league goes a long way toward meeting this objective. You can choose to participate at different levels of play and commitment. We also offer open skating pick-up games, and seasonal instruction clinics ...

Please join us at the STiK for competition, skill development, camaraderie, and FUN that makes up the STK Hockey League!

See you at the STiK!

News

And so ends an era:
As most of you Sun employees know already, the wellness center activities are being outsourced to a company called Baysport. Sun has decided to discontinue the league programs as of December 23rd. I imagine that you will be able to organize pick up games. However, they will no longer allow external players to play in any of the pick-up games.

External includes anyone who does not directly work for Sun (Louisville) or who does not have a contract with Sun to use the center (EDS currently has a contract set up for their onsite employees). Unfortunately, spouses and dependants of employees are no longer eligible to use the center or play in pick up games. Also, as of right now Sun employees from across the road at the Broomfield campus are not allowed to use the center or play in the pickup games.

I know this is a shock and I am equally disappointed, but this was a business decision and that is that. Things may change once Baysport gets set up. I don't know what else to tell you.

It has been a fun ride and I value all of the friendships that have developed over the years. Lets have some fun through December 22nd.

Just to clarify before I get a bunch of e-mails: These changes take place on December 23rd and do not affect the current league. We will operate business as usual until December 23rd.

Rule changes & clarifications:
  • If the score is within 2 goals, the game clock will convert to stop time during the last 2 minutes of regulation play.
  • Only two skater subs will be allowed per game in A and B leagues.
  • There will be ZERO TOLERANCE for questioning officials. Players questioning the official without going through their team captain (or captain designee) are subject to a minor misconduct penalty. Further questioning can result in a 10 minute and/or game misconduct penalty. Verbal abuse of the official by any player (including the captain) is subject to 1 or more misconduct penalties. It is recommended that players who wish to question an official's call convince their team captain (or designee) to discuss the situation with the official. Complaints about the official can only be taken up with the league director (Ben).
  • Any league official may call extra timeouts during the game for health, safety or environmental reasons.
  • The league committee may eject any player from the league for poor sportsmanship or dangerous play.
  • Penalties will be served on the penalized player's team bench. The penalized player is not eligible to return to play until the penalty period has expired. After the penalty is served, either the penalized player or a teammate may return to play.
  • Slashing of an opponent's stick shall be subject to a minor penalty.
